Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy explains what you may and may not do with Filexco. It is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses the Service: account holders, people who use an access key or a share link, and resellers and their customers.

The rules protect our customers, our systems and other people. The examples below are not a complete list. If you are not sure whether something is allowed, ask us first at [email protected].

2. Prohibited content

You may not store, share or send content that:

  • is illegal where you live or where we operate, or that you have no right to have;
  • infringes someone's copyright, trademark, trade secret or other rights (see the DMCA policy);
  • sexually exploits or abuses children in any way. We have no tolerance for this: we report it to the authorities and close the account at once;
  • shows or promotes violence, terrorism, human trafficking or self-harm, or that threatens, harasses, stalks or incites hatred against people or groups;
  • shares someone's private information or intimate images without their consent;
  • contains malware, ransomware, phishing pages or kits, stolen data, credentials or card numbers;
  • sells or promotes counterfeit goods, illegal drugs, illegal weapons or other illegal goods and services.

The same rules apply to encrypted vaults. We cannot see what is inside a vault, but we act on reports and on legal orders, and we can disable access to a vault object we are told about.

3. Prohibited activity

You may not use the Service to:

  • attack, scan, probe, overload or damage Filexco or any other system or network, or to send spam or run a phishing or fraud scheme;
  • use or try to use an account, key, data or system that is not yours, or get around authentication, limits, blocks or other protections;
  • open several accounts to avoid limits, plans or bans, or to collect referral or promotional rewards;
  • run automated sign-ups, or share, sell or transfer an account;
  • resell the Service, or storage on it, as your own without our written agreement. Resellers we have approved may sell key codes under their reseller terms;
  • act as a public download site or content delivery network for large-scale distribution, or send traffic that makes the Service worse for other customers.

You may not use branding on a share page, or any other feature, to pretend to be another person, company or service, or to make a file look like it comes from somebody else.

Normal use of WebDAV, the API and the web app for your own files, apps and websites is welcome. Monthly bandwidth and request limits are described in the Terms of Service and in our documentation.

4. Security testing

Do not run penetration tests, vulnerability scans or load tests against Filexco without our written permission. Ask first at [email protected] and tell us what you want to test, from which addresses and when.

If you find a security problem, tell us at [email protected]. Give us a reasonable time to fix it before you tell anyone else. We will not take legal action against people who test in good faith, stay within what we agreed, do not access or change other customers' data, do not disrupt the Service and do not use social engineering or physical attacks against our staff or premises.

Testing your own account with your own data, within the limits above, needs no permission.

5. Reporting abuse

Report abuse to [email protected]. Please include the link or file identifier, what you saw, why you think it breaks this policy, and how we can contact you. Reports about copyright go through the DMCA policy.

We read every report. We may remove or disable the content, contact the account holder, limit or suspend the account, or pass the report to the authorities. We may tell the account holder who reported unless that could put someone at risk. If someone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first.

6. Enforcement

If we find or are told of a breach of this policy, we may, depending on how serious it is and whether it is repeated: send a warning, remove content or disable share links, limit features, suspend the account, or close it. We act at once, without warning, where the harm is serious (for example child sexual abuse material, malware, or a threat to people) or where the law requires it.

If you think we made a mistake, write to [email protected] within 30 days and tell us why. A person who was not involved in the first decision looks at it, and we restore what we removed if we were wrong.

We cooperate with law enforcement and keep what the law requires us to keep. After we close an account for a breach, we may delete its data and we do not refund prepaid time.
